About Me
Hello and welcome to my GIS portfolio! My name is Leanna Navo, and I am a recent graduate of the University of Miami, where I triple majored in Ecosystem Science & Policy, Geography & Sustainable Development, and Spanish. I developed a strong interest in hydrogeology through my internship with the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department’s Hydrotechnical Services Division from May to December 2025. This experience exposed me to the critical role of GIS in natural resource management and engineering applications, from tracking saltwater intrusion to supporting regulatory efforts. Working alongside county geologists and consultants, I gained valuable insight into real-world applications of GIS and developed a passion for using geospatial tools to address environmental challenges. I’m excited to continue applying these skills—and to keep mapping with a purpose.
“Greatness is a mental abstraction and a favorite fantasy of the ego. The paradox is at the foundation of greatness is honoring the small things of the present moment instead of purusing the idea of greatness. The present moment is always small in the sense that it is always simple but concealed within it lies the greatest power.”
